No More Rupert Murdoch

Hi, For those of us who don't want a few big companies deciding what we
see, hear, and read in the news, it's a bad day.
The Bush-appointed FCC just voted to loosen media ownership rules so
media titans like Rupert Murdoch can swallow up more local news outlets.
They did this despite a huge public outcry--when the FCC asked for
public comments, 99% opposed media consolidation!

The last thing our democracy needs is fewer independent media voices
and more news outlets like FOX. Congress has the power to reverse this
rule change, and I just signed this petition asking Congress to do that.
This issue is very important. Can you join me at the link below?

Thanks!

AMERICA, THE UNSTABLE!

THEY SAY OPRAH

Oprah initially intended to open or improve schools here in the US. But she got discouraged after finding as she says, inner city kids here are not interested in rising above their situations but rather are focused on getting the newest iPod and $200 Nike shoes. So, she focused outside the US. She knows that wherever you can empower the next generation of women, you can change a society. I think credit is due to Oprah for aiming high and helping these girls, the next generation of women in a country in turmoil, to set personal goals.

Back to My Roots

When I told my mother that I had decided to acquire both a tattoo and a belly button piercing, she was a little confused, but accepting. Everyone was a little shocked at my changes, especially since I don't seem like "the type", but the announcement of my next change attracted way more lectures! I have decided to stop perming my hair. I have been meet with questions, "If you don't have "good" hair then I wouldn't do that." My mother insists on telling me that I won't like it. My friends think that I have gone all black power on them and have insisted that I stop listening to Neo-soul and halt my production of poems. All I want is for my hair to be healthy and to give it the opportunity to be itself. No more stunted growth. I always said that I would never perm the hair of my children, but how can I do that for them without giving them an example to follow. Whether or not I am just trying to make a point, I don't even know! All i know is that I am going through with this. I have already broken the first rule, don't tell everyone you're going natural, they will try to discourage you! lol

I Love You

I have discovered that there are two types of love. The love that God has created and the love that society has created. It is time to separate the two. I have grown to understand that once you tell someone you love them, you are telling them to never change. You have placed a seal on approval on the person that they are towards you forever. This can be a wonderful thing, that is if that person is wonderful. You truly love someone once you have discovered that you can live with their flaws, but here is where it gets cloudy.
I am so sick of hearing women declare that no one is perfect, and because of that they put up with a ridiculous amount of bullshit. I am so sick of hearin gwomen state that love is forgiveness, and because of that they allow him to disrespect and abuse them. This love that was created by society does not exist. It is an idea. An opiniuon that you have formed in your head. You say you love him because you have made yourself believe that you do actually love him. Here are a few guidelines:
1. To forgive is to let go of the resentment and bitterness for your own sake, it is not something you do for him. It is prescribed so that the hate does not consume you. It does not mean put up with bullshit.
2. Before you tell him you love him, examine his flaws and be sure that you can live with him.
3. If you feel like in being yourself you will lose him, then he is not the one for you.
4. If you feel like you cannot be alone then there is something else in your life that is missing. For me it was God.
